For those like me who loved "The Wuthering Heights" Emily Brontë, you may also enjoy it. I do not guarantee anything. Even I was a little pessimistic: I knew some authors re-wrote a classic by adding their own touch / key. But here, I who'd sworn never to touch one of these books, I decided to give a chance.
What a pleasure to find back the characters of one of my favorite novels!
Sorry, I open randomöy the book and realized it might be a spoiler!! |
The reading begins in the form of a
She returns to what she failed to tell him so, it goes back to ... For Nelly, as she explains, she needs to deliver some words. To tell him the way things really have happened. To be heard. And under her narrative, as if by magic, we return to the scene. From her earliest childhood, Nelly grew up with the children's master Earnshaw: Hindley and Catherine. She was very close to Hindley. Venturing into the big house, or outside together. Without social barrier as it must be remembered that Nelly is a servant's child.Until the day when the master returns waith an abandoned child. That day the children's lives or any inhabitants of Wuthering Heights change. Jealousy, hatred will take up more and more as we all know how it started. And Nelly in all this, back to her place. To follow in her mother's footsteps. She will tell how this change has been for her. Deprived of certain pleasures which it can no longer be entitled. How she perceived the atmosphere, worries for her playmate ... The changes that were made in the house. And despite the tragedies that take place in, Nelly refuses to leave. Making you wonder what may well retain her there. Yet, reading her story, we can understand it.
The story of a classical with an another perspective, from of a servant, was quite interesting as the story focuses mainly on her, Nelly Dean. Her environment, her life, the moods, etc.
Of course, there are some changes from the original. It surprised me that ultimately, it did not bother me as I would have thought. Except maybe the last 20-30 pages that seemed sloppy.
Otherwise it was a reading that took me from the beginning and I struggled to close between.
Si vous l'avez lu, qu'en avez-vous pensé ? / If you have read it what have you though about it?
Note: 4/5
