Silent Reading Party - Dundee -

Un de mes rendez vous mensuel autour des livres, lectures est "Silent Reading party".
Je n'avais jamais entendu du concept jusqu'à ce que j'arrive à Dundee. D'ailleurs cela se fait depuis le mois d'août 2015, grâce à Mariel, la chaleureuse organisatrice s'assurant auprès de chacun que tout va bien. D'après ce que j'ai compris, cela aurait commencé à New-York (désolée l'article est en anglais) Certes, en ce mois d'avril ce fut ma seconde fois, et pourtant j'aime l'idée que les gens se réunissent dans un lieu public, ici dans un pub -ok c'est peut être bruyant mais lire dans un café c'est pareil. Car là est le concept du silent reading party !
Je vous entend dire : autant rester chez soi. Oui...mais non. Dans mon cas étant souvent en tête en tête avec mes cours, et notes, j'apprécie ce moment.

One of my monthly socialising event around books is "Silent Reading party".
I had never heard of the concept until I arrived in Dundee. Moreover, here in Dundee, it's since August 2015, through Mariel, the cheerful and welcoming organizer ensuring everyone that all is well. From what I understood, it would have started in New York. 
In this month of April, this was my second time, and yet I love the idea that people gather in a public place, here in a pub -ok it might be noisy but reading in a café is the same. For there is the concept of silent reading party!
I hear you saying, so stay home. Yes... but no. In my case, I often am alone facing my computer or tablet screen to follow up my courses online, and notes, so I really appreciate this moment to gather with other people reading in the same hour.

Ma lecture (pour le Bac français) lors de ma 1er fois / My reading for my 1st time there

Ma toute première fois fut donc au mois de mars. L'événement commence à 17h30, du moins pour s'installer... Je savais que Brew dog est un pub aux places restreintes, il y a bien sûr la clientèle du pub + les lecteurs réunis et répartis où ils peuvent trouver de la place.
Donc cette fois ci, je suis arrivée un peu plus tôt. Quitte à commencer ma lecture plus tôt également.
Nous ne sommes pas obligés de rester l'heure entière. Certains lecteurs partent sans rien dire avant la fin - sûrement qu'ils avaient commencé leur lecture avant l'heure. D'autres socialiseront par la suite. Ou avant, si à la table il y a un lecteur. Le temps de faire les présentations, et de se replonger dans son livre. C'est à la convenance de chacun. Et ça me convient très bien étant quelqu'un de réservé. Des sourires entre lecteurs sont également échangés.
J'essaie d’apercevoir les titres qui sont en cours de lectures par curiosité. Pour cette seconde fois, j'ai vu au moins  deux titres dont j'avais lu : Cloud Atlas de David Mitchell, et Reaons to stay alive par Matt Haig.

So my first time was in March. The event begins at 17:30, at least the time to settle ... I knew Brew dog is a pub with restricted places, there is of course the pub ustomers + us, the readers and we sit wherever we can.So this time, I arrived a little earlier. Even start reading my earlier also.We do not have to stay the whole time. Some readers leave without saying anything before the end - surely they began their reading early. Others will mingle thereafter. Or before, if at the table there is an other person with his book. The time to make a short introduction, and get back into our books. It is at the convenience of each. And that is fine with me being someone quite shy. Smiles are also exchanged between readers. 
 I try to see the titles that are being read out of curiosity. For the second time, I saw at least two titles which I had read: Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell, and reaons to stay alive by Matt Haig.

Et celle de ce mois-ci qui est pour le groupe lecture / And the one for this month, a book for the reading group

Je pense que ce genre de regroupement est bien aussi pour encourager les gens à lire, à prendre le temps de lire. Lorsque nous rentrons du travail, des fois, on a pas le courage d'ouvrir son livre... et ça peut durer ainsi sur plusieurs jours. Si vous aimez lire, ou tout simplement tenter d'en faire l'expérience,  je vous y encourage. 
Moi-même lorsque je connais la date, je l'écris dorénavant sur mon calendrier pour faire en sorte de refuser ou adapter ma journée de travail que je sois libre pour m'y rendre.
Je sais qu'en Écosse, il y a ce genre de regroupement à Édimbourg et Aberdeen. Celui de Dundee à une page Facebook.

I think this kind of social gathering is also to encourage people to read, take time to read. When we come back from work, sometimes we have not the courage to open our book ... and it can last well over several days. If you like reading, or just try to make the experience, I encourage you to do it. 
I have heard that in Scotland there is Silent reading party in Edinburgh and Aberdeen. The one in Dundee has a Facebook page.
