[Photos] Randonnée / Hiking Leuchars to Tayport via Tentsmuir

Lately, with the spring coming, I want to be more in the nature. Being in my element. In Finland, I had the chance to live about 1km from the forest, and then when I moved to Chéri's, we were close to the forest and the sea. Here, it's different.

Nous sommes sur la bonne route ! / We are on the good way!

I had decided to go on an adventure to Tentsmuir forest and beach on the other side of the Tay river (or Firth of Tay.)

Tentsmuir forest is a national nature reserve by approximately 130 km2 and with vestiges of the past from 19th century with "the ice house"  and pillboxes from World war II.
Why that place? Quite simply because I have its map on my desk, but especially after seeing the pictures on Instagram, from one of the people that I follow, it has given me more envy to discover the place.
So, on this lovely Sunday 17th April, Vaso (Greek friend) had sent a collective message to see if anyone would be interested just to take a walk, or cycle on that side. After some chatting, and on the proposal by Charlotte (we had met the week before to the ceilidh), we went for a "short" hike, about 16km from the starting point: Leuchars to Tayport following the path "Fife coastal path ". So through the forest and the beach Tentsmuir.

If you're in the area of Dundee and St Andrews, it is a place to stop and discover by yourself!
The beach is filled with small shells as you can see on the pictures! And in the right season, seals can be perceived. And in the forest to observe red squirrels.

La forêt qui m'a rappelé celles de mes Landes natales <3 / The forest that reminds me the one where I am from back in France: Les Landes.

I hope to go back, I'll just take the bus and stop at the ready, or bike when I have one, to be able to bring my bigger lens and take the animals and birds in photos.

About the hiking, the beggining, we had to walk on the road and we had to stop to let cars driving. Drivers, some of them, showed us a thank you by waving their hand. No need to say how we were about 4h30 later!? About 16km in our legs... It was an easy walk as it was flat.
Oh, I was going to forget to mention, how could I!!??? There was a "crêpe shank" at the car park. Real French crêpe, and I was able to talk French with the lady. Honestly, I wasn't expecting this. That was a big surprise to me.

Ok, place aux photos.
Photos from now on (with some comments)

Nous avons croisé un drôle arbre sur notre route / We met a funny tree on our way
Presque arrivées au parking de Tentsmuir. Presque ! / Almost arrived at Tentsmuir's car park

Instead of a sheep, it's a poney that met my path...

D'habitude c'est moi qui traîne... Et marcher dans le sable est un très bon exercice / Usually I always am the last one... and walking in the sand is a very good exercice.

I love the clouds in Scotland. That Sunday, I though there were quite beautiful.

Tous ces petits bouts blancs... / All this white spots...

Après-midi et découverte à Broughty ferry /Aftertoon and discovering Broughty Ferry

Saturday afternoon, we went to explore Broughty Ferry, a suburb of Dundee. It was a for a while that I wanted to go there.
I admit I was not very motivated to go: the sky was so cloudy, unlike further south where it was clearer and sunnier. Cheri was ready to go: it is not raining, it's most important, right? And even when it rains, it will not last and it will not be a heavy rain. If he said so...

Broughty Castle...

So we went. We're lucky to live near a bus stop, and most buses will bring us there directly. I just wrote down the name of the bus stop closer to the castle. Indeed, a small castle there. Or rather, a fortress since it was built primarily to defend.
For Chéri, it was his first trip by bus in the city. And as many in this city, as anywhere in the UK, there are the deck bus. We were upstairs in the front. The journey took about 45min. We started our exploration with Broughty Castle. (see picture). Inside, you can visit it for free. It's more about the histoty of the place and its land: Broughty Ferry... I was not really interested, I was looking forward to go on the beach. Walking on the sand, even if I had my city shoes. Looking for shells...

Vue depuis le château / view from the castle

Once on the beach, I felt more in my element ... The inspiration came to me. I could then live each of its small moments of happiness with him. I know that sometimes he loses me, but at the same time he appreciates and enjoys seeing me this way as well. Seeking on his side to take my picture "the natural". Natural in the sense that I am in my world, where it cogitating in my head between observations, photos ideas, what angle I should take ...
Many walkers with their dogs. We make a short video that will join others to catch this moment of happiness. Then one of the dogs come upon us, his mistress apologetically. No worries, I would say. Then she pointed out to me that with everyone who walks their dogs at the beach, there is a good chance they come and jump on us. Not problem, otherwise we would have left this place already.

Meanwhile, the clouds disperse giving way to blue sky and sun. Chéri looked at me but did not need to tell me, you see I told you so!
There was this time I wish to continue walking along the beach. To see if inspiration would then still continued. But the hour was spinning, and the cafes often closing at 16.30-17.00 here, I decided it was more prudent to follow Cheri.
We continue still our discovery of this corner.

Walking in a street... nice, isn't it?

One thing is sure, I will come back as well to make the picture find me a corner to read it. Or to do photography.
This afternoon, returning home, I felt serene. Happy to have made an exit as we then came to do while we were still in Finland. Share, enjoy the moment, is not-then the most essential?

To end this post, here are some pictures taken on the beach.

Chéri thinks there is not enough picture of me on my blog. Here is his small serie of pictures of me.

And the very last picture, our hot drink at the cafe:
